Make a Move LA teams up with former LA Clippers player,  Baron Davis and  S.L.I.C. Studios, to bring it’s electrifying Chess tournament experience back to the inner city.  Featuring a backpack giveaway for students in need of supplies for the upcoming school year. 

Tournament registration now open. Check in will close at 2:15pm on 8/3/24.

TOURNAMENT RULES

  1. 20 players must participate in each tournament.
  2. Touch & Move If you touch a piece, then you must move that piece.
  3. 15 minute clock until halftime.
  4. 10 minute clock after halftime.
  5. Fastest Round 2 Winner skips to 4th Round.
  6. Fastest Round 3 Winner skips to Championship Round.
  7. Draw games will play a 5 minute rapid game.
  8. Illegal moves will add 30 seconds to opponents clock.
  9. Three strikes for illegal moves
    1. Each illegal move will be considered a strike.
    2. Excludes Touch & Move rule. 
    3. Strikes carry over for each tournament.
    4. Three illegal moves total allowed throughout the year and strikes will reset on December 31st.

PRIZES

1st Place

$200 cash, Trophy, Make A Move Jersey,  Entry into Champions Tournament ($3,000 Grand Prize).

2nd Place

$100 cash and Make A Move Jersey
